Ojeong-dong Missionary's Village has 7 private residences constructed during the period of 1955~1958 for the missionaries with the 3 buildings on the north that were constructed first (in 1955) have been designated at cultural assets. After all the missionaries left Korea in the 1990’s, Indon Academic Center was opened in commemoration of William Alderman Linton (1891∼1960, Korean name of “Indon”), the founder of Hannam University, to house and exhibit relics.
These buildings reflect the image of the era in the 1950’s, and are receiving much attention with unique format of introducing Korean architectural format by westerner including Korean style roofs on red brick structure and focusing of the main entry into the building to the front gate. On the basis of the fact that modern structures and commemorative buildings constructed immediately following liberation from Japanese occupation of Korea to the end of the 1950’s have disappeared during the fervent era of development since the 1970’s, the significance of Ojeong-dong Missionary's Village is indeed enormous.
In addition, forest has been established around the buildings with trees that are more than 50 years old with 3 species of birds designated as natural monuments such as sparrow hawk, scope owl and brown hawk-owl, and more than 50 species of birds are thriving in the forest, thereby establishing micro-biological zone and well-preserved natural environment.
