Daedeok-gu has long history of being a birthplace of Hanbat Spirit Culture that nurtured countless number of traditional scholars, loyalists, patriot martyrs, dutiful daughters and wives by having revered fidelity and moral virtues, and is a region with diverse range of cultural assets including Dongchundang, which has been designated as the national treasure No. 209, and Hoedeok Hyanggyo, etc. It would be meaningful to experience the history and spirit of traditional Korean scholars of Daedeok-gu with your children by taking a leave from your busy daily schedules.

Ojeong Missionary's Village

Contents : Ojeong-dong Missionary's Village within the Hannam University is the residential village of missionaries from the South Presbyterian Church of USA when they were establishing the Daejeon University (currently the Hannam University) in 1955. It is referred to as a “cultural forest within urban center” through the harmony between 4 units of traditional Korean houses and 3 western style houses of the ‘50’s, 50-year old trees and 52 species of rare births such as brown hawk-owl that visit this village.
Beop-dong Stone Totem Pole

Contents : Beop-dong Stone Totem Pole that was erected in the 1700’s is a set of totem poles that faces each other in the vicinity of the cross-road at the Beop-dong and the only one that has been designated as cultural asset. It is the oldest totem pole in the region of Daejeon. Although the Beop-dong totem poles are originally made of wood, story has been passed down that Song, Min No, a wealthy person in Beopcheongol made donation to replace it with stone totem pole about 300 years ago.
Dongchundang Park(Dongchundang. Ancient house of Dongchun)

Contents : It is a masterpiece park established by turning the general regions of Dongchundang and the Ancient house of Dongchun into a park (approximately 56,000㎡). Having put a wide open ground and pond in the area in front of Dongchundang, which is being loved by the neighboring apartment residents as a rest area, and “Day of Residents of Municipality and Dongchundang Cultural Festival” is being held every year for expansion of interest and understanding of traditional cultures, and harmony among the residents of the municipality in every fall.
Biraesa

Contents : It is a small Buddhist temple from the era of Joseon Dynasty situated half way up the Gyejok Mt., and has mineral water spring and Okryugak. Wooden Birojanabuljoasang produced during the Joseon Dynasty is preserved in this temple.
Okryugak

Contents : Okryugak has been designated the Tangible Cultural Asset No. 7 of Daejeon Metropolitan City. The appearance of Okryugak standing intrepidly on top of steep valley with flowing water is dynamic, inexorable and free, causing passersby to pause and take a look even for a moment.
Yonghwasa
Location : Gyejok Mt. Yonghwasa, #190, Gyejok-ro, 762beon-gil, Daedeok-gu, Daejeon Metropolitan City
Contents : Yonghwasa is a small Buddhist temple situated in the Gyejok Mt. in Daejoen, and has Yonghwasaseokbulipsang (Tangible Cultural Asset No. 26 of the Daejeon Metropolitan City) presumed to be made during the Latter Baekje Dynasty in the early 10th centruy is situated next to the main sanctuary, the only one in the temple.
